Broadcast

Live accessibility for broadcast production

4ALL LIVE supports broadcast teams from source audio through caption and language delivery. Personal viewers can provide companion access, XPression Bridge can feed caption text to Ross XPression graphics, browser sources can create visible overlays, and 4ALL Encoder can insert CEA-608/708 data into supported H.264 contribution streams. Each path requires independent monitoring and downstream verification.

What it is

A production workflow, not a one-size-fits-all promise.

The first broadcast decision is whether the output should be an audience companion, a visible production graphic, an open overlay, or embedded caption data. That choice determines the application, operator, monitoring point, and failure mode. A network-connected encoder or updating graphic is not enough; the control room should observe what the final receiver or audience can actually access.

Best for

  • Control rooms using Ross XPression for live caption graphics
  • OBS and browser-source productions rendering visible caption overlays
  • H.264 contribution feeds requiring embedded CEA-608/708 data
  • Broadcasts offering companion browser translation or accessibility access

Plan around

  • Visible graphics and overlays should not be represented as embedded closed captions.
  • 4ALL Encoder does not control every downstream gateway, transcoder, distributor, player, or decoder.
  • Redundancy, compliance review, master control, recording, and transmission policies remain production responsibilities.

Capabilities and outputs

What the workflow actually delivers

The exact configuration depends on the event, audience destination, enabled features, and downstream production equipment.

Caption and language sourceCreate live captions and configured translated languages from the production audio feed.
Graphics integrationConnect selected caption text to Ross XPression through 4ALL XPression Bridge.
Open overlaysRender a caption browser source inside OBS or a compatible production compositor.
Embedded captionsInsert CEA-608/708 data into a supported H.264 stream with 4ALL Encoder.
Contribution transportSend Encoder output over configured RTMP, RTMPS, SRT, or RIST destinations.

Production workflow

From source audio to a verified audience output

  1. Step 01

    Specify the audience output

Document whether captions must be companion, open, graphic-rendered, embedded, translated, or available in more than one form.

  2. Step 02

    Assign the production path

Configure the cloud event and select browser, XPression Bridge, Encoder, or personal-viewer destinations.

  3. Step 03

    Integrate with control room systems

Map graphics data or prepare capture, codecs, caption service, transport, network, and receiver settings.

  4. Step 04

    Monitor at the last mile

Check the program graphic or decode the transported stream after the final relevant processing stage.

Questions buyers and producers ask

Frequently asked questions

Can 4ALL provide both open and closed broadcast captions?

It supports visible browser or XPression output and a separate Encoder workflow for embedded CEA-608/708 data. The production must configure and verify each chosen path.

Can 4ALL work with Ross XPression?

Yes. XPression Bridge exposes a selected 4ALL event language for a documented Ross XPression DataLinq workflow.

Can 4ALL send a captioned contribution feed?

4ALL Encoder can produce supported H.264/AAC output with configured CEA-608/708 captions and send it over RTMP, RTMPS, SRT, or RIST.

Does an active transport mean captions are on air?

No. The transport can be healthy while caption data is missing, remapped, stripped, or disabled downstream. Verify the final caption service with a compatible decoder.

Can broadcast viewers also use a personal browser?

A production can share the event viewer for companion access while running graphics or embedded outputs, subject to event configuration and audience communications.
